potential GPU upgrade

ok. my parents are going to america which means i have a rare opportunity to buy a 1080 in a much cheaper price than where i live (about 30-50 percent difference). i don't have a good computer, i bought a gtx 960 last year, and other than that my computer is 5 years old pretty much. i have a GA-PH67-DS3-B3 motherboard with a i5-2400 cpu. can i get decent performance with this system and a 1080 with a later upgrade of the whole system or will it definitely bottleneck the card and i should buy a whole system instead?

Who cares if it bottlenecks the card. The 1080 will still run better then a 960 with a i5-2400, Later on the card will perform better with a new cpu but for now 30-50% is a big deal.

Video cards are one of the most expensive parts if you are out of the USA or Canada. I would advised to buy the parts in order of that. The gpu will be a good upgrade no matter what.

I think going with just a gpu isnt the best idea. I would recoomend going for a 1070 or 1060 and a new cpu instead of a 1080, wich most likeley is super overkill for u unless ur planning on 4k? or 144 fps 1440p gaming.

ok then a 1080 is good, but still, it will be bottlenecked with that cpu. Maybe you can buy the 1080 first and see how bad the bottleneck is and from there see what cpu u need :)

it's an option, although it will suck if i'll buy it, see the bottleneck is pretty severe and then buy a cpu in my country 30% more expensive along with a new motherboard that will also be 30-40% more expensive
