Hi folks. Total newbie here on PC building. I've had my current PC build for about 5 years now and I feel the need to upgrade. I already have 2 Samsung SSD (250gb & 500gb) plus a Seagate HDD (1TB). Monitor is older one MSI OPTIX G27C2 IPS that I plan to continue using. Aiming for mid-high end game performance at 1440p. However, it looks like my 27" monitor only supports up to 1080p. Therefore it seems like I would have to replace that one soon as well (later).

I have referenced some other's builds and modified myself. Please see below link.

Can anyone give me a hand to confirm if this should be alright ? Will there be any bottleneck issues ? Power shortage ? Anything ?

Budget is around $2,200 - $2,500 CAD. That said, price or brands at this point is not THAT relevant as I am going to see what goes on sale and then further my research.

Mobo wise people online suggest MSI Pro B660-A over the ASUS Prime B660-Plus D4. Any ideas on it ? I see many encourage to avoid Gigabyte on those mobos as well..

For RAM, most say RAM speed of 3600 should be enough for this current build ?... Any suggestions on brands ?

For PSU, is 800w Gold 80plus going to do it ? Or should I opt for 850w just in case ? I will try to "overclock" the i5-12400 and the RTX 3080 so voltage is another factor I suppose.

Also looking at the Corsair 4000X case as it looks absolutely stunning, but also because of that I have to throw in some extra for RGB case fans.... People say Corsair LL series are super quiet and run well with the nice RGB feature. Any thoughts ?

Please kind ladies and gents give me some constructive feedback and suggestions....Thanks a bunch !

All looks good but spending that much on a overpriced RGB corsair AIO seems counter productive. Just my 2 cents. I would also advise to opt for a RM850X over that EVGA GA when paired with a 3080.

For gaming at 1440P, the graphics card is likely to be the most important component.
3080 seems to be a good choice there.
Fortunately, gpu prices seem to be declining rapidly so if you can hang on a bit, you may be able to score a good deal
As to the cpu, I suggest you look at the I5-12400.
https://www.newegg.ca/intel-core-i5-12400f-core-i5-12th-gen/p/N82E16819118358
It is priced comparable to the 5600X.
There are some added pluses.
It comes with a workable cooler that you may want to try out first.
If the cooler becomes noisy under load. A nice air cooler at half the price of the aio would do just fine.
As a plus, it includes integrated graphics which is cheap insurance if you should ever have graphics issues.
Integrated graphics lets you get started early if you want to shop for a graphics deal.
With Intel entering the market soon, there may be some strange pricing.
Lastly, ryzen depends on ram speed for performance. 3600 is the sweet spot.
Intel does not much care.

Wow....I truly thank you for your effort here. Yes I did see the Gigabyte RTX 3080 OG 12GB and actually just snatched it today ! For Ram though, I'm wondering if it'd be an overkill going for 32 GB ? I'm thinking 16 GB should be enough for most things ? Or there are other angles to your suggestion ?

Thank you for your suggestion ! Might I ask why else would you suggest the I5-12400 ? Is it mostly because it is a newer chip ? I pick 5600x because a lot of people recommend it as a value pick... For I5-12400, would the integrated graphics become any potential burden down the road or is it a complete bonus like you said ? Picking I5-12400 though would require me to pick a newer mobo which could be pricier and harder to come by ? From online it seems there are several (Z690/B660/H670/H610). Any suggestions on mobo ? I see B660 seem to be a good fit for the chip according to others online.. Sorry again bit noobish so I scramble online to look for info myself, prolly not very accurate most of the time.

Yea I'm still debating whether I need all the RGB....Might be too flashy for my liking

There is nothing wrong with RGB as that is a personal taste there however is allot wrong with that unit costing 188$ when it is out preformed by $100 air coolers.

Right......I haven't dived into the coolers just yet honestly. Question here, do you think the liquid cooler would offer a much better experience compared to regular fan cooler ? Price vs efficiency I mean. If the difference isn't that much, I might just slap on a cooler or sth on it.... Sound is obviously another factor but more minor on my priority list.

Air coolers have no chance of leaking, also the larger ones that nocuta offers will perform the same if not better and be pretty quite.

Everything runs smoother with 32GB vs 16GB.
