[SOLVED] Potential upgrade advice

Hi all first post here just wanted to ask some advice on what would you all upgrade if you had my rig . I just upgraded my gpu from a GTX 1070 and I’m thinking maybe going ram next since my cpu motherboards are mostly gone all advice is appreciated .

Honestly really wouldn’t bother with the RAM upgrade. You’re better off waiting and upgrading platform as any DDR4 you get is basically useless when you get a new MB + CPU with DDR5

From the 1070 I’m definitely getting a decent bump in average fps in all the games Im currently playing cyber punk used to average 74 fps on all low settings with fsr on ultra on the 1070 . With the 6600 on the other hand I’m on all medium settings fsr ultra and I hover around the 100 fps mark .

If I could source a Z390 board and Oc my cpu and get some faster ram do you think in your opinion I’d get some kind of performance gain that’s worth it ? Or should I just save for a whole new cpu + mobo upgrade?

I have a 9700K with RTX 3070 (recently upgraded from GTX 1070) with 16x2 4000 Mhz RAM, and my monitor is a G-Sync compatible QHD monitor. 144 Hz.

If you don't want to move QHD or 4K, I would wait for one or two years.

After the GPU upgrade the slowest component in my build easily became the monitor, because in games it can easily reach 120 fps or more. And I don't have any plans to upgrade to 4K or a faster QHD monitor.

CPU overclock or faster RAM will give you some increase in fps. But I doubt if it is worth it considering you will also need the replace the mainboard then. Save your money, wait for one or two years. And then move to a 15th generation CPU, and then replace also the GPU. That will be a worthy upgrade.

Currently I have an Acer XFA240 Fhd 144hz 1ms G-sync monitor , and I don’t really feel the need to upgrade up to higher resolutions at the moment .

Not really OCing isn’t what it used to be and you can’t extend the life of the chip by OCing it like you could with say a 4790K. You’d probably just burn away any saving with just the electricity bill
