Hello, I have a 3.5" hdd (WD, 2.0TB) that I want to plug in to my laptop through usb. My usb connector supports 2.5" and 3.5" hard disks but for the 3.5" I need to connect power to it. I am not sure where to get the power adapter, could anyone give me some advice?

I've honestly got no idea what connector that is. I'm not sure if there's a standard connector for those things, pretty sure there's loads of different sizes and such, it might even be proprietary.

If I were you I'd just try it without the extra power and see if it works, or get an adapter that's just usb.
If you tried uploading an image then I can't see it, not sure why...

But anyway, you should be able to get usb to sata adapters that include both the data and power connectors for a hdd. You can find them on Amazon, probably places like Newegg or the equivalent for where you live as well.

Just for reference, something like this has connectors for both the data and power.

Sorry about that, fixed the image links now.

Thanks, I would prefer finding just the power adapter though as I already have the hdd->usb adapter. I just need to find out what it is called.

Solved it! The 3.5" HDD requires a 12V power supply, and I'm pretty sure the plug required is a 1.35x3.5mm one as seen here:

I even combined a 12v power supply for a broken laptop with the cord of an old phone charger using the correct plug and it worked just fine.
