Hey so I just bought a laptop, MSI pe70 2qe, and the battery on this thing doesn't last a very long time. I'm thinking about buying a power bank so I can power my laptop off that if I start running out of juice on the laptop battery. I've been looking at a few power banks that say they can power laptops but I'm not sure if they are powerful enough to power this laptop. Do note I will not be gaming when I'm not plugged in, I will be mainly browsing the internet or programming. So power consumption is not at max by the laptop. So my question is does anyone know a power bank for laptops, or what I should look out for in power bank specs like voltage and amps? Does the power bank amp output have to equal the laptop amp input. Maybe if someone has a link to something with information that could help that would be great. By the way the msi laptop has a built in battery so buying another msi battery isn't a choice. Thanks.

That's a gaming class laptop, so the battery life would likely be a few hours at most. You can do quite a lot to save on battery life, do you have the system set to battery mode in the power saving options? Dim screen a bit when on battery, things like that?

There are some laptop battery packs, but they are designed to be used by mainstream laptops not gaming systems. They may be good enough to extend the life of the system though even if they don't have the power to fully keep the thing charged. And it also would depend on if your laptop is compatible with the tips they offer.

Solution
So I recently bought the MSI GT72VR Dominator Pro - 288 and realized the battery could last me a most of 4 hours. What I do to optimize the battery is to underclock the cpu and gpu. Cpu is 1.2-1.4 ghz and the gpu to your liking. UNDERCLOCKING DOES NOT DAMAGE CPU OR GPU.
I do not mess with the other two cores because they'll will handle light use. Also try undervolting to be able to have a cooler laptop.

Programs NEEDED
MSI AFTERBURNER
Intel extreme tuning utility
