power cable length question

Does the length of the 24 pin motherboard power supply cable affect the performance of the power supply. I am not sure if I am wording this right.

I was given a bottom mount power supply case and it appears the only way I can use it is to extend the 24 pin cable a few inches.

I would like to know if that has any adverse affect on performance and if so what?
