Hi all,
I feel kind of stupid about doing this but I need some help. I have an ASUS G73JH that, like all laptops of that model, was overheating. So I decided it was finally time to take action and do a re-paste and dusting.
Everything went well, with 2 exceptions. When I was removing the wires that connect the fans to the motherboard, they would not come out. I have never had issues disconnecting things from the mobo, but these two cords were stubborn as hell. Long story short, the plastic pieces at the ends of both broke, one of them being bad enough to stop the fan from running and now my computer overheats in about 10 minutes (I'd better hurry up with this!).
I am wondering what this part is called. If anyone can link me to a replacement it would be great. A few more details: it has 4 wires connecting to the back of it, Red, Black, Blue, Yellow.
Also, for next time so I don't break anything, can someone tell me the correct way to remove these from the motherboard? I sat there for about 20 minutes trying to do it carefully to no avail and now the pieces are still stuck in there. Thanks in advance!
Kealy
