Hi,
I want to know how much power I should buy for this system:

main: MSI Z77A-G43
cpu: 3570k
VGA: 7870 Saphire
ram: Gskill Ripjaws 8GB CL9 1600
HDD: Seagate 1TB sata III 64MB ST1000DM003
monitor: LG IPS224V
speaker: Edifier X220
ODD: Pioneer 24X

in future I will add another 8G ram, I may change the VGA with more powerful one and also I may overclock. is a 650W P.S.U enough? exactly I mean this one: Green GP650B - OC

thanks

Solution

You are correct, more power is usually better. And, no it won't cause any problems because it has so much power: your psu will ONLY supply the power the board and system need, it does NOT run at 750 or whatever watts all the time it is on.

It's also the quality of the power , here's a nice modular one.

I don't think that would be available here in our market, what about the PSU I have chosen? is it good too?
so 650w in any condition I mentioned such as adding ram, upgrading to stronger VGA, overclocking , ... will respond?

Don't know how much of an overclock it would support, but should have more then enough power for your system.
The Green website:
http://www.green-case.com/products/power/power.php?model=GP650B-OC

they list the specs. near the bottom of the page and it says that it is made by Channel Well Tech. CWT is usually decent builder of powersupplies; I think most would consider them middle of the road capable. The below link has CWT in tier 3; not bad, not great.

If you can find that xfx unit, even a 550 or 500 watt job, I would go with that, per SR-71. Otherwise you probably will be o.k.

Thanks,
if a system would need for example 500W and we buy a 750W power, can that make problem for system and performance?
I want to do so for reasons like I may upgrade for example my graphic card in future, and I also think having more power is better than less power which may cause getting in trouble in future, am I right?

The GREEN GP650B-OC 650 Watt power supply is based on CWT's high end DSG Series Platform.

Corsair's Professional Series CMPSU-750HX & CMPSU-850HX, now discontinued, used this platform. These power supplies were very highly rated by the majority of reputable power supply review sites.
