power keeps disconnecting in my laptop even tho power adapter is perfectly fine

my sony vaio laptop's power keeps disconnecting when i play video games , its keeps changing power source from battery to power adapter and the lapton gets way overheated fast 90'C on average even tho im using laptop cooler, i changed the power adapter but i still have the same problem, to be more specific, im playing a game the FPS is like 150 then it drops to 24 because the power is from battery and then it changes back to 150FPS in few seconds , any solutions , should i change the power supply unit ? pls help, im in the dark here !

Sounds like your laptop is drawing excessive current from its adapter while gaming and the adapter is shutting down.

Your best option is to go in your laptop's GPU configuration panel and reduce the power limit, underclock or do whatever it is you can do to limit its power draw until the adapter stops cutting out.

i will try it , but im not sure that's what's happening ,as the FPS also drops in games that are weak and old , i have Nvidia gt540m , 2gb dedicated and 4gb total , but im having trouble even with games like call of duty 2 which i run in low mode so it doesn't crash ,
