Hi,

I'm having issues with my GTX 1060 6GB core clock fluctuating wildly. I tried searching around and I suspect it may be a power limit issue.

I'm running a miner for 'load testing' Below are my monitors from GPUz and MSI afterburner. To me it looks like the GPU clock drops when the power limit goes to 1. TDP is 146%

Anyone know what could be causing this? And how to fix it?

It also happens at idle:

I have tried:

Removing (using DDU) and reinstalling Drivers
Underclocking the card (-400core -502 mem)

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

What sort of load are you testing on your system with said GPU? Speaking of system, mind sharing specs to the build? Which driver version are you on at the time of writing? BIOS version for your motherboard? Riser cables used?

Hi thanks for the reply

System
ASRock Fatal1ty 990FX Professional 990FX
FX8320 oc to 4.3GHz
16GB DDR3
GTX 1060 6GB MSI Aero
Windows 10

Drivers
Nvidia 472.12
MB Bios 2.0

The GTX is in the main PCIE slot. I'm only mining as a test

I built the PC recently from second hand parts. Functions fine for desktop use and low requirement games (EG Dota2)

I've been using a mixtre of heaven benchmark and Trex miner (ethash) for load testing.

Since I first posted I'm becoming convinced its a power consuption issue, because is far as i can tell the TDP should be max 120w, but at idle GPUZ reports 193.6w.

Here's it running heaven benchmark with default speeds.

did u find a fix for the problem. do u have the stock bios.for me this issue started after flashing vbios.reducing power limit to 60 percent in afterburner fixes the problem along with underclocking the card

You have posted to a two year old + thread (necro).

Please start a new thread of your own.

State the specific problems that are occuring and include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Include PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition.

Disk drives (make, model, capacity, how full)?

Closing thread to further posts.
