Power outage during Memtest.

Well, the family computer has had freezes and whatnot, so I thought the best thing to do, would be to run Memtest. Of course the thing I'm worried about, is that I live out in the country, so every so often power will be lost for a moment. Would a sudden surge cause trouble if I happened to be running Memtest at the same time? I feel like it's worth mentioning that I do not have a UPS. This is the first time I've posted on this site, so please forgive me if I've put this in the wrong category, or if the post is to short with not enough explanation.

A power outage is not a problem while running memtest, but if you have them often you need a UPS.

If you get a power loss during a bios update, you will have a large brick.
