What is the output amperage on a USB 3.0 port? (I know USB 2.0 ports are up to 1A & 5V)
I have a device that can use external power (either another USB port or a smartphone charger) but it needs to output 2A and 5V.

Solution
It depends on the USB source port, but 2A is not universally guaranteed. Some USB ports can have greater than 1A but it isn't universal.

All USB ports are 5V (although some ports meant for charging can increase that voltage on demand).
USB 2.0 is rated for 0.5A, 3.0 is rated for 0.9A.

But as said above, how much it can actually deliver will depend on the port in question. Are you talking about a wall adapter/charger? Because those will have their rated output voltage/current printed on the case.
