What is the difference between the two? Both serve the same purpose; to provide data as well as (electrical) power to different nodes. I can't seem to find the difference
PoE is used to provide electrical power to a device, such as a camera, as well as carrying the signal from the camera back to the switch or DVR.
Powerline networking is delivering an ethernet signal through the house electrical wiring, to a second powerline device.
This is done in place of running a regular Cat5e cable, or WiFi.
Think of it as:
Power over Ethernet
vs
Eternet over powerlines
