Power plan changes when running fullscreen applications

Hi there,

I've recently noticed that whenever I start a game, the power plan under Control Panel/Power Options immediately changes to High performance. In MOST cases, closing the application turns it back to balanced (not when running NBA 2K17 for example). I'm using balanced to lower voltages/temps when not doing anything demanding. Since when is this behavior present? Is there a way to turn it off? *holds himself back from going on a Windows 10 rant*

Thank you!

hmmmm....
System automatically changes to High Performance when the application requires High Performance, and then returns to Balanced when that performance is no longer required.

Sounds like it is working as advertised!
no windows 10 rant...what?

i heard many things about win10

but the behavior of going performacne mode to run a game, when you actually need it and then dropping down to lower power mode does indeed sound balanced....imho

sounds like it is working as intended....?

But running games is demanding (some more than others of course).

You should be glad Windows is now intelligent enough to override your preferred power plan as & when required, instead of seeing this behaviour as a "problem"

You want to stop it doing that? - - well don't play games on it!
