Hello everybody, and a happy new year!
I'm a happy user of a Geforce 9800gt: chip G92b on 55nm process, board Gigabyte N98tsl1Gi with passive cooling.
Though, I'd like to reduce its power consumption. Presently it runs permanently at full frequency and voltage, whch I need only for games. I'd also prefer it to display immediately the mobo's messages, which could mean skip the test of the graphics Ram.
My plan is to extract the present Bios (or rather microcode) with nvFlash, adapt it with Nibitor for steps in frequency and voltage, and reinject it using nvFlash.
Is that reasonable, or a good choice? Would I find instead a ready Bios doing what I need? Better ideas? Your opinion please!
What tool (for W2k or Xp or better both, on Ga-ep45-ud3r) would best test the frequency and voltage before modifying the Bios?
What are known voltages versus frequencies for the 55nm G92b chip?
Thank you!
