I have an asus motherboard with via onboard sound card (or chip say)... I have a separate set of speakers 'altec lansing' connected to the audio port in my motherboard. Now i use the power saving feature regularly. Since many a times I listen to music when having food I use this feature. A year ago I was on xp and I used power saving mode. I am not talking about sleep mode. i used these settings:- disable screen saver permanently as I don't need that feature and turn off monitor after 3 minutes. So after 3 minutes the monitor use to go blank and the music in 'any' media player say winamp, windows media player or AIMP3 used to keep playing. This is what I want.

Now I am on win 7 and I want the same. So when I use the power plan setting in the control panel say 'disable monitor after 3 minutes'; windows instructs the radeon card to blank out but it also pauses the processing of via hd onboard audio card which means the music stops playing. But when I press a key or shake the mouse the screen lits up as well and the music in any player resumes playing where it was paused. I don't want this, I want the xp like feature. Can anyone help me as to what to do about it.

Thanks to all.

sorry i think i got a bit confused. yes i checked via it is set up as default. ok it works fine in power saving mode but i noticed that when i make radeon the default which powers my asus monitor speakers then when it goes in power saving then it pauses the audio. is there a way such that the display can be offed but the audio keeps running when asus monitor which is powered by amd card on dvi port goes in power saving mode.
