All but two of the "Power Schemes", in "Power Options Properties", on my
computer mysteriously disappeared. I have considerable time invested in
setting them up and would like to be able to transfer them from another
computer, can anyone tell me where the file is that stores these customized
"Power Scheme" settings? .........or how to make them reappear. They were
not deleted. I am the only user of the this PC.

Power options are stored in the registry.

You don't say whether you have a laptop or a desktop. Power options were
intended and designed for laptops, so they are frequently troublesome when
used with desktops. You're not doing yourself much of a favor by investing a
lot of time in power options.

You can recover the default power options by creating a new user and copying
the new user's power options from the new user's section of the registry to
your section of the registry. This is a tricky manoeuver, so you should
definitely set a restore point before trying this. Should you decide to try,
post back for instructions.
