Power supply after 3! failed corsairs

As you can probably see from the title, I have had 3 Corsair power supplies, and I am giving up on them. They have given me no end of trouble, and I want something else. However, my confidence has taken a hit and I am worried that I am going to get problems from another manufacturer. This is why i want to make sure that the one that I buy this time is rock solid and doesn't have any known faults. Unlike My GS600. I first had a CX500 that blew up in spectacular fashion. Ebuyer replaced it with a GS600, however it suffered from the bad thermal management software that makes the fan buzz and whine. I want something silent, efficient, and with a good warranty to replace it. Suffice to say I will not touch another Corsair power supply. However from what I can find it gives a good write up. I want something that can run my system and maybe take another 7770 down the line. My system is as below

Phenom II X6 1045T on an Asus M5A99X EVO
4GB DDR3 1600MHz Kingston HyperX
OCZ solid 3
XFX Radeon HD 7770 (maybe adding another soon)

I use antec and ocz; just be aware that some of their power supplies don't come with the power cord; most folks have a spare laying around somewhere.

I found a SeaSonic but it is even more than the Corsair that I am returning and I have to pay for delivery over and above.

Xfx 550W Core Pro. Made by seasonic and it wont fail.

Get that for 54$ on ncix and you wont regret

You must be unlucky to say the least, are you sure you don`t have some sort of short from the back plate where the mobo is fitted to the chassis back plate. I would say there was a problem there maybe an extra stand off fitted and touching the back part of the board where it should not be.

No i think its a known issue with the thermal control inside the power supply. It is supposed to switch on the fan at over 150W of load (I.E. when i'm gaming) but it doesn't and just hovers inbetween. Check the youtube link in the original post and you'll see/hear what I mean.

Thanks for the tip about the XFX. How did you know it was a SeaSonic? I checked here and it says it is not a derivative of a seasonic (lacking a ".1" after the ECOS ID#) http://www.plugloadsolutions.com/psu_reports/XFX%20TECHNOLOGY_XPS-550W-SEW_ECOS%202440_550W_Report.pdf Are you thinking of the XFX 650W XXX edition? I should mention I am in the UK.

Seasonic is of the best PSU makers around. So no need to be afraid.

Yeah I went off and googled it and found that. Does it mean that it can deliver the 620 that the SeaSonic does?

Well thats not true. Thats why its rated 550W and 620W.

The internal build is identical not the power.

But 550W vs 620W (even if 620 is cheaper) i would get the 550W cuz you dont need that power with 7770.

If you plan to upg to 79xx than you might need 620/650W to CF

ok. what about 2 7770s?

Also that XFX is a bit thin in supply right now (at a decent price). Are there any other PSUs that would do (quiet, reliable, reasonably priced)?

Well there are tons but you dont need them.

2x 7770 CF needs ~159W on peak. So 550 is still enough. No need to go higher.

AND 2x 7770 are not worth.
