My PC suddenly powered off while I was using it. The Power Supply Unit (PSU) tested bad (yes I shorted the green & black wires). I replaced the PSU but the PC still won't power up. Therefore, I suspect the Motherboard is bad. Motherboard is model: MSI 970 Gaming. It was NOT overclocked. The PSU was 600 Watts.

I had a network card, a small simple video card and four hard drives installed. Also had three hard drive servers connected via USB which contained four hard drives each. The hard drive servers had their own power supplies.

I never heard of both the PSU and the Motherboard dying simultaneously. Does anybody have any thoughts?

Well if the PSU shorted it very possibly blew someting on the Motherboard, not uncommen that the Mobo or and the GPU , even both will get damaged by a PSU blowout. Therefore get the the best PSU you can afford as it is the basic fundamental on which the whole PC is built. I feel your pain........
