Youve never heard of the Kingston because Gskill have taken a huge market share because of flashy, flamboyant & unnecessary heatsink design.
Kingston are one of the longest running RAM manufacturers in the world. They also do lots of enterprise level gear, inwhich no serious operation would touch Gskill. RAM failure is qute rare (compared to PSUs or mobos) but Gskill has much higher return rates.

I only consider 3 brands of consumer RAM - Crucial (micron), Corsair and Kingston. (samsung is not readily available).

The PSU VS series is low quality. You wouldnt be pushing it so much if you got a higher wattage.
The higher the quality the lower you can go. Take a look at the stickied PSU tier list and choose an affordable 450-550w...

I have built plenty of systems with the tier 3 Antec VP series. Its ok.

That's a horrible psu, I would only ever put it in a desktop for minor browsing here and there, definitely not for a gaming computer. And kingston is a very reputable company, they have been manufacturing for a while, don't be scared to purchase from them.
