Last year, I purchased a 500W Rocketfish power supply from Bestbuy when I upgraded my graphics card. They had a very bad selection and I didn't want to purchase online. Ever since, I have had problems with my audio when I start to play games. After about 30 minutes into my game or 30 minutes into watching videos online after booting up, the audio starts to become filled with static and it gets worse over time. My internet even disconnected when I have a wired connection. However, when I restart my computer, the problem goes away entirely.

My specs are...

Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.80GHz
Lynnfield 45nm Technology

8gb of Ram

Dell Inc. 0X231R motherboard

AMD Radeon HD 6770 graphics card (1600x900 resolution)

500GB Seagate hard drive

Is 500W enough to power all of this? Is my power supply at fault for my problem? What is the appropriate wattage for my system? what PSU's do you recommend?

the rocketfish though not the WORSE PSU is far from being a QUALITY PSU.

even though your hitting no more than 350 watts underload i would not be surprised it is stressing that PSU.

Antec VP-450 450W ATX $37.99 $5.99 Shipping

CORSAIR Builder Series CX430 $44.99 $1.99 Shipping

SeaSonic S12II 380B 380W $56.99 $9.20 Shipping

would ALL be good choices at current specs.

I have the same problem only with a Corsair AX850. I am definately not hitting even close to the max power consumption on it, but if my sound card is in any other PCI slot besides the top 1X slot it causes the audio to crackle, hiss, and whine. I moved the sound card down closer to the power supply and as i got closer, the crackling became louder. Is there any solution to this problem. The power supply i bought brand new so I don't see how it could be broken.
