and is a 750w an overkill ?

For the RTX 2080 build. Check out the following 750 Watts PSU models..... Can you afford them, and are they available near your location ? What's your budget ?

Minimum proscribed recommended size for a 2080 is 550w.

A 2080 will pull 250-260w.
The 2600x will pull 100w
The rest of the pc will be lucky to pull 100w.
And that's maxed out, everything running at peak, 450w. Even with a massive OC (not really feasible on the 2600x, it's already cranked) of 100 extra watts is only enough to max out a 550w psu. And gaming loads on a psu end up @ 60-70% draw. Mostly you'll be in the 350w-375w range.

A good 550w is plenty, if a little tight, a good 650w is good, if a little much, 750w is over the top and higher than that is totally unnecessary.

Hey there… What would you consider the major differences between the Evga G3 You suggested, and the GQ the OP was considering?

I am shopping PSUs, as well, but I don’t think my usage will be nearly as high as the OP ‘s.

I think for the GQ series, EVGA teamed up with FSP to produce these units, which are slightly one step below the G2 series. So, I assume the G3 might also be better than the GQ model. I think there are four GQ PSUs, and all are 80 Plus Gold certified, and use only Japanese capacitors.

Apart from that, there isn't too much of a difference between make and build quality of the G2/3 and GQ units, IMO.
