Power Supply compatible with gts 250 or gtx 260?

Hey Guys

I Am looking to upgrade my Graphics for the new COD!! but am constrained by my power supply

I know i can run a 9800gt but im not sure about the 250 or 260

My power supply is an 'antec true power 2.0 TP 2 with 480 watts maximum output. so it should run 260 and 9800

the only thing im concerned with is this railing business which i dont really understand

on the sticker it says 12v(1) and 12v(2) both at 18A and it says both combined maximum load 33A. Unfortunately this means nothing to me and im wondering if you guys could help!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

also one last question: from the power supply there is the connector that says pci-e however my card (7600gs) doesnt have a slot for it?? Is this connector only for newer cards?

I thik that PSU would be fine with a GTS 250 (9800GTX+ rebadge) but might not quite make it for a GTX260. A 260 wants 500 watts with 36a 12v rail. Amps are really more important than watts.

As far as rails go you just add the 12v rails together. So you have 2 12v rails at 18 amps each for 36 amps but under stress that falls to 33 amps because nothing is 100% efficient.

Pretty much all new high power graphics cards require at least one 6 pin power connector. The 7600GT is not powerful enough to require that extra power and runs off of the PCI-Express slot.

ok so im gonna stay clear of the gtx260 probably get the gts or im looking at gigabyte 9800 fanless with silent cell....kinda like the whole no noise thing but ive heard they get really hot inside the case so not sure

Glad to help.
I dont really have any experience with fanless cards at least not since the MX400 and earlier generations ( old ..back when nothing had fans 😉 ).

I wouldnt use one unless I had a really well ventilated case.
