Power supply connectoir and gpu issue

I have a Cooler Master V550 550W Semi-Modular 80+ Gold Power Supply and it has two 6+2 pcie connectors but I have a gpu that has an 8 pin and 6 pin. Do I connect one 6+2 connector and one 6 pin connector and leave out the other 2 pin?

They make the connectors on the power supply 6+2 pins so it will work as either a 6 pin or 8 pin.
