Hi, I will describe what happened yesterday:
I was using the PC, there was a electric storm going on, and suddenly I heard a subtle "click" in my room, a split second later, a badass lighting.
My PC still worked ok, nothing changed, I didn't notice any kind of electric tension issue, or anything like that, just that little click.
I shut down the PC normally, since the storm was still ongoing I disconnected the power cable from the wall, and disconnected also the ethernet cable, just in case.
A few hours ago, I turned on the PC. Nothing happened. The motherboard's led didn't turn on.
Tried several times, changed the cable, nothing. The motherboard never recieved power apparently.
I remembered I had another power supply, and tried with that. It worked, I'm writing this post using it.
Now my question is, could it be possible that the power supply partially died?, like if a capacitor or something that was involved in the start up of the PS blowed up somehow?.
The power supplies were:
- blown up: CORSAIR RM Series RM850
- working: Coolermaster Silent Pro M700
Any opinions about this will help, luckily my PS is on warranty, so I guess I can ask for a replacement. Externally it looks the same, no smell or any physical evidence of anything weird.
Thanks.
