Greetings All,
Below is the system that I built last week. After the build I added several older drives that had info on them that I needed. Two were 1TB SATA drives and 2 older IDE 500GB drives. So in total I had 2 DVD, 5 hard drives and an edternal usb drive with files being transfered pluged in. The Rosewill RV2-700 power supply died after a day. Subsequently, I ordered and installed the CORSAIR CMPSU-850TX 850W power supply. I don't want to kill another psu so did I do something wrong with the original setup? It's running fine now but I only have 2 sata drives plus the dvd's hooked up. Is there something I should be doing to the older drives before installing them or was thhis just too much for the Rosewill.
Thanks All

Yea--Ur right! Last time a built a system, 7 years ago, a $60 psu was a pretty good one. That PSU was a 350W unit with 6 HHD plus 2 DVD's hooked to it for 5 years without a hitch. That Rosewill only lasted 1 day! I just didn't want to fry another PSU without checking here first. Thanks

I'm not seeing a GPU, because if this is the case the Rosewill should have held up, they aren't the best but they aren't complete crap (i say they are excessively mediocre) and the corsair is overkill for the setup (unless there is a gpu you didnt list)

I do not have a GPU as I don't need one right now. The board has acceptable video built in (at least good enough for what I'm doing right now) however, I may add one later. I went with a "big" PSU because of what happened with the Rosewill. I agree, I would have thought that the Rosewill should have pulled all the drives that I had installed. When I plugged in my flash card reader to the USB the computer just shut down. I checked by shorting the green wire to black with a fan plugged into the PSU but no joy.

Could one of my old IDE drives have caused it!!

Thanks everyone.

realistically it just sounds like they sent a bad PSU out (it happens even to the best of companies like corsair)

well i hope the corsair works out for you (i would imagine it will), btw you could run quite a strong GPU setup with that PSU so don't worry about it if you do decide to get one (or two)
