Power Supply electrical buzzing noise. Is it a problem?

I built a PC about a month ago (total system wattage is 329W). I originally got a Corsair CX600M PSU.After about a week or two, it started making an electrical buzzing noise at completely random times. I got a replacement (same model). Within 24 hours of putting it in my system, it started making the noise. This was also completely random as to when it made the noise. However I typically ONLY heard it after dark.

I read that it was a common problem with the CX series, so I bought a Seasonic M12II 620W recently. A few hours after I installed it I heard the noise again. I posted asking for help in the PC Master Race subreddit, and people suggested that it wasn't the PSU that was the problem and something else was causing it to make the noise. I then changed surge protector and wall outlet, but I heard it again last night.

It doesn't make the noise a lot, and only at night. It doesn't seem to care what the load is when it makes the noise (it makes the noise on a very low load sometimes, and sometimes it does it on high load). It isn't very audible, only slightly. I'm at a loss for what to do, and some help would be greatly appreciated. It does seem to happen less with the Seasonic PSU.

Thank you

I have moved my ear around the case whenever I hear it. It is certainly the PSU making the noise, but is most likely something else causing it to make the noise.

All due respect but it almost certainly is not the PSU. The chances of three different reputable PSUs making the same noise? Not happening. The sound will be bouncing around the case appearing to come from the PSU.

I recommend taking out one case fan and running the PC. If you hear the noise, put the fan back in and take a new one out. If you don't hear the noise, and don't for a few days, then you got the bad fan.

If you check all case fans to be fine, then you need to check the GPU fans.

It will make the noise (which is coming from the PSU) even if the PC is shut off and no fans are spinning. Also, i have googled my issue multiple times and am not finding much solid info.

That is very strange - the PSU should not be drawing power to be making noise.

When the PC is making the noise when it is off, suddenly turn off the rocker switch on the back of the PSU to see if that stops it. I think it is something else in your room.

If my PSU is making the noise when I turn off my PC, then it will continue until I either turn off the PSU at the back or disconnect power.

I'm going to say this - I think you're rejecting the truth. This is not a PSU issue. The chance of one reputable PSU making these noises are slim. But three in a row? No chance. Something else is making this noise - be it another component, a multisocket in the room, or something else near your PC.

As I have said, I do not think it is the PSU causing the noise. The PSU is making the noise, but something else is causing the PSU to make it.

One or two things ;
PSU causing vibration to something close by in the case, ensure PSU screws are tight,if case is on floor try it on the desk.Try removing the PSU with all the wiring connected and try using the PC with the PSU out of the case.
Is the PSU mounted the correct way up for the case.
The noise is caused by the electricity supply. Is anything turning on at the time the noise happens, main culprits would be air con, refrigerators, microwaves or even fluorescent lights.
Do you notice anything else happening when the noise occurs such as lights flickering or dimming or the monitor showing any interference.

The PSU is mounted properly with all the screws tightened. I have not noticed anything else happen when the noise starts, but I will look for it

I have made sure the cables are all in well many times

Hmm...

Could you find the source of sound.

Maybe yust dissasemble your pc to find out.

We've the same power supply and the same problem. I don't trust Seasonic anymore. I haven't found a fix for it yet but I will be taking my pc to the shop later.

I do not think it was seasonic in particular, as my EVGA psu did the same thing
