Power Supply emits constant buzzing sound

Just bought a brand new PSU (Corsair GS700) which works just fine - except for an electric buzzing sounds, which starts the moment the mobo is turned on.

I have a power surge device only, and my rig is an i5/GTX 550 Ti, with 1 HDD and ODD.

Didn't try turning the PSU by itself to see if it goes away - and will not do that :p

Anyone shed a light to this? And please don't jump to the RMA option, I like to fix things, not just turn the other way hahahaah.

Thanks!

Coil whine almost certainly. Hate to say it but the only thing you can do is RMA it. Coil whine is grounds for RMA.

If by coil whine you mean this

or this

then no, that's not the sound I'm hearing hehehehe.

It feels like constant hum, a white noise. Which is clearly coming from some electric component (i.e. not the fans, not some metal clanking, etc.)

Thanks for the pointer though, now I'm reading more about electrical noises and stuff... still appreciate some inputs :)

Well if it's not the fan hitting something that pretty much leaves coil whine as the only noise a power supply can make ;)

Hey, couple months passed and the noise has all but faded - only in the late night, in the utmost silence I can hear anything - I've opened a case with Corsair, JIC, and got an extended warranty (3y) for free, so if it goes to the fritz I'll get an RMA.

Thanks anort3!
