power supply fan facing up or down on carpet?

i have carpet floors and i just bought a 300r case with a cx600 power supply. should i put the power supply fan facing up or down? is the fan a intake fan or a exhaust?

here's a picture of the distance between the floor and my case keep in mind i have a carpet floor. the carpet dosent go that high, its just regular carpet.

It goes toward the bottom and is an intake fan. The exhaust is to the rear(same side with the power switch). Some cases have a hole in the bottom for this but even if there isn't a hole in the bottom of your case... that fan should point down to grab air from the lowest point in the case(coolest air).

The PSU pulls air in through the fan and it exits through the back openings.

I have my PSUs facing up since I am lacking intake fans in my Cougar Black Steel cases.

It does need to face down as said above, with carpet it is usually good to mount your case up a little with some little blocks of wood as no intake air makes an unhappy PSU

yes I do it myself as I have my pc on the carpet floor under my desk, I have 2 little planks of wood under the feet and my PSU has been working fine for over a year
