Greetings all,
I have a Diablotek PHD Series PHD650 650W ATX12V v2.2 power supply with a fan that is definitely on its way out...again. I had purchased two of these power supplies back in `09. One of them crapped out a couple years ago, but I saved it for parts. Glad I did, as the second one's cooling fan started becoming noisy. I replaced the fan (its a 2-pin connector, easy swap), and its been good until recently. Now its starting to make noise and is getting progressively worse. While just buying a new PSU would be the easier way to do it, this one still works fine save for its noisy fan, and it would be a waste to throw it out.
However, it seems getting a dedicated replacement fan for PSUs isn't very easy, at least based on my searching so far. Thus far I've determined that its a 140mm fan. My question is, can I buy a 140mm case fan and use a 3-2 pin connector, or are there other parameters I need to consider? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
