Hi guys,
I need an advice on what PSU to get for a 290x crossfire setup. I got a deal for a second 290x for just 175 euro, brand new with 2 year warranty and it's an Asus with factory OC and aftermarket cooler - I just couldn't say no :). However it is obvious my current 730 watt Thermaltake Smart SE is not up to the challenge (it's a pretty crappy PSU in general). I did initially want to get a Corsair RM1000 but it won't be a good fir for my case and I'd have to get rid of my bottom case fan to put it in. Alternatively, I can get a Corsair AX850 which is also gold certified and is the exact size of my current PSU which would make it the perfect fit for my case. The question - will an 850 watt gold certified power supply be enough and possibly not just barely for my system? I understand having at least a bit of headroom is recommended.
My specs are: i7 4790k, 16GB RAM (4x4GB), 2x290x (one MSI Gaming 4 and one Asus DirectCU II), 1x Samsung SSD 250GB, 2x Western Digigal 1TB HDD 7200 rpm, Asrock Z97 Extreme3 motherboard and the case has 3x120mm fans. According to newegg's calculator I need about 770 watt for that but I'd prefer some real life experience based advice.
Thank you in advance.

My 290X Crossfire/4770K/16GB RAM/Intel SSD/2TB 7200 RPM HDD/H80i rig draws 758W under max load.

I'm not going to but still I'd prefer to be able to get a good deal. Isn't a gold certified Corsair good enough? I know squat about power supplies but I was under the impression their stuff was good.

I had a DOA Corsair HX 850, another HX 850 that burst into flames, and a CX 750M that outlasted both of them. So take that for what you will. Both my EVGA 1300W G2s have lasted longer than the HX850 did.
