Hi, recently my Acer gaming PC suddenly stopped working. After conducting a few tests, I concluded that the issue likely lies within the power supply. However, when attempting to replace my PSU with one from a friend, we noticed that the connections were not compatible. Is it possible that only specific PSUs will work with this system, and if so, which ones are would they be?

1. contact acer if the pc is still under warranty or see if they can sell you a new psu as those psu are not standard.

Due to the motherboard used in the prebuilt having proprietary connectors, you're relegated to using the PSU that it came with.
Would it be possible for me to use a 24 pin to 6 pin Atx cable adapter and buy a new psu since it doesn't work anymore or could it cause some problems?

Hey there, I think there will be issues with the adapter (unless it has some mechanism to change the standby voltage. Traditional ATX power supplies have +5dc standby (VSB), the ATX12V0 supply you have (newer, less popular standard) has a +12vdc standby (VSB). This means a cable adapter that just re-arranges pins probably won't work.

COMeap make some similar adapters. (https://www.amazon.ca/COMeap-Power-...564-b266-7dd21813764f&pd_rd_i=B06XW7RWNH&th=1)

You could email them and see if they have one available. (in my opinion, you're better off contacting ACER and asking for a replacement - OR if you have a friend who knows how to diagnose / repair electronics, ask them to check the PSU)
