I recently got an R9 390 for $180 on eBay, I was initially planning to get an RX 580 so I selected a Corsair CX 550 (the new one) to be my power supply. Im not sure if the CX 550 is beefy enough for my graphics card.

Any thoughts?

Solution
With a beefier CPU, a system including an overclocked R9 390 pulled ~315w from the PSU, on average at a gaming load. Yours would consume even less. There is no need for a 650w power supply.
The CX550 can deliver 550w on the 12v rail, so you are fine there. It has enough connectors, and it’s a good (just good) power supply.

Some may suggest a top quality power supply, such as a Bitfenix Whisper, Corsair RMX, be Quiet Straight Power 11, Seasonic Focus Plus. That’s up to you.

The Seasonic 620 is worse than the CX550. Avoid.
I'm not familiar with Seagate's power supplies - though SeaSonic, among others, are highly rated. I went with a SeaSonic 650W when I upgraded, though I went a little bit overkill.

I'm hoping others with more PSU knowledge than I can chime in with recommendations regarding brand, etc.

Defiantly need a better PSU than that, with high power draw cards it's best to stay away from budget units.

Recommend:

Seasonic Focus Plus 650W
EVGA G2 or G3 650W
Corsair RMX 650W
