[SOLVED] Power supply for Galax HOF Extreme 3090

Hello I have the GPU described in the title on the way, which recommends a 1000w PSU.

The card's TDP as stated by Tom's Hardware is 450W. I'm using an i7-9700k as the cpu. So my question is would I be likely able to get away with using an RM750x (which is what I currently have) provided I don't OC the HOF 3090 and use stock settings?

Possibly no. 3090 are known to produce very high power spikes that can trip the OCP on PSUs, up to and including the RM850x.

Thats an interesting post that you've brought attention too. The problematic case involves a 3090 FE and an RM850x which makes me suspect theres some defect on either the card or the psu, as many 3090 models recommend 750 or 850w psus. Nonetheless I think your point is very valid and thanks for that. I think it's probably the safest to go for a good 1000w psu.
