My previous PC had a 320W SMPS/PSU which gave power to my monitor as well. However now that I'm building a new rig, with the Seasonic S12II 620W, I was wondering where the monitor will be powered from. I'm a total newb with this regard and all I have is this cable (see pic) and a monitor. So do I need to buy a new cable/connector or does the PSU supply power for the monitor as well?

Solution
The Seasonic SMPS will plug into your surge protector or UPS, the monitor will also plug into your surge protector (or UPS). There is no power connection between the two anymore, since current computers power on and off through a front panel switch and not the PSU switch as they had in the (distant) past
What monitor do you have? Here in the US, most monitors have a power receptacle that can be serviced with a similar cable (Those cables are called NEMA-cables, by the way).

A few, mostly foreign imports have an external power brick that connects to the wall outlet and converts the power.

Inspect your monitor and see what ables can be attached to it. Typically they have inputs for one or more types if video signal (VGA, DVI, DisplayPort or HDMI), power and audio. A few also allows for USB pass-through.

But my UPS has only an input port (from AC power source), an output port (which goes into the PSU) and an expander port (for power bricks/multiconnectors.) So I guess, I need to get a power cable which converts from NEMA to a 3pin-AC (i live in Asia/India so we have circular pins)? (something like one shown in picture )

Do everyone a favor. Since you're not providing all the details, provide at least the make/model of your UPS, PSU and monitor.

NEMA cables are designed that they can be modular so one end can be country-specific and hte other end universal to save on manufacturing costs for components requiring power. Most often goods sold at retail in a particular country will have a country-specific NEMA cord included. It is when people import that they need to replace the NEMA cord.

No need to get angry. Here are the details:
Dell UltraSharp 1909W
AMI UPS (Got the 1000VA model with surge protector and expander sockets )

Read the original post for the PSU (Seasonic S12II Semi-modular Bronze+ 620W)

I live in Asia (specifically India) so we have round pins instead of flat plate-like ones you got in UK and US. The UK ones will do fine too (I've got some handy converters).

And I've figured out that I'll require a 3 pin AC male to 3pin female NEMA type converter/cable. (like the ones I gave in the picture.)
