I tend to like the semi. I mean, any pc you're going to build HAS to have the 24 and 4(8) pin connected anyways, so I see no point in making THAT set of cables modular. they're not exactly optional. and having them hard-wired just means less futzing around with plugs.

so semi for me. modular for all the periphs like drives and graphics cards, but fixed for the board power.

If I go full modular, will I need to buy separate cables for my components? This is my first build, and I don't feel comfortable picking parts I don't understand.

the power supply includes enough cables that work with it. check reviews for details on what is there if you're nervous. techpowerup.com and jonnyguru.com are very good places to poke through.

You only use the cables you need , keeps the build neat.

You don't have to deal with extra cables your not using.
