Ok today I got my new parts which is an i7 8700k and a new motherboard. So as I got everything set up and powered it on and the fans weren't spinning as well as the cpu fan but the motherboard was lighting up since its rgb. So I was thinking maybe I plug stuff in the wrong way after double checking still nothing. So I removed all cords and just left the 8 pin and 24 pin nothing but the motherboard flashes again but still nothing from the cpu. So I check the power supply and the fans are not spinning at this point I still wanted to make it was the power supply. So I put just the 8pin and 24pin in my old rig nope nothing. I was wondering if this is common that after just using that same psu it could just die by putting it in a new build. Also can it also be something or as I mentioned just the power supply.

Slow down a bit. At this point, it's hard to tell what you did; it sounds you just did a bunch of stuff. And yes, a PSU can be defective out of the box.

- Go through the entire no-boot list that is stickied. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems Don't just look at it and decide you've done all that stuff, go through it exactly, one-at-a-time.

- Provide all the specs of your PC. We're not physically at your PC, so we cannot look at the parts, meaning you have to be our eyes. And all you've told us about your PC is that it has an 8700k.
