Power supply Lifespan

Hi bros, i'm little worried about my power supply, how much time a Psu lasts? I have an Cooler Master M2 Silent pro 850w 80+ Silver, and used it for three years (i bought it in 2014).

Some guys told me i need to upgrade if i want a new system.

I can push my psu for some more years? Or is time to upgrade it?

Whoever told you that is wrong. While CM sells some poor quality PSUs, thats not one of them. Its not the greatest but its good enough, and only 3 years old is fine.

It's based on an old group regulated circuit design. The +3.3V rail may drop below ATX12V specs when using a modern CPU that enters C6, C7 or C8 low power sleep state.

Change the PSU if you upgrade to a Haswell (Core I3/5/7 4xxx) or newer. Or simply disable the sleep states in the BIOS on the motherboard. That's what i did with my i7 4790K was disable those sleep states and mines running just fine.

Hmm, do you have sleep mode enabled in windows?

It must be. Usually don't switch off, just manually sleep. Seems to be working properly. Everything shuts down and wakes up almost instantly.

Your Corsair TX750's secondary side uses a modern DC-to-DC circuit design so it is Intel Haswell and later compatible. It also uses all Japanese capacitors unlike the OP's Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 that uses mostly lower quality Taiwanese Teapo capacitors.

So I guess if you combine what we're saying: Your PSU should have plenty of power and life left to run your new system, but you'll need to make a few changes in BIOS if it doesn't sleep properly.

As I said your PSU is fine use it.

If the Seasonic X-Series is available to you its one of the best you can buy. A worthy upgrade, however tremendous overkill

If giving problems i deep sleep state could you disable the C6/7 energy saving states in the bios,like said should the psu be fine and just try it.
