Power supply making a loud clicking sound

So my recently built PC was off, and all of a sudden the power supply started clicking loudly about 2 times a second (thankfully I was in the room and noticed), two case fans (that I can see) started spinning at what looks to be less than full speed, and my wired mouse lights started flashing in time with the clicks. Normally, my mouse lights up red, but this time it what white. I unplugged the mouse, and the clicking frequency seemed to slow down to half speed. I tried starting up the PC but nothing happened. I flipped the PSU switch and nothing happened. Finally I was forced to unplug the machine. I believe it was the power supply making the noise, but I did not open up the case to investigate.

By god, help me. I hope things are not ruined.

P.S. this is the second time this has happened (that I am aware of). It happened a few days ago in the middle of the night and scared the piss out of me. Please, send help!

It sounds like the fan on your power supply is dieing. It is possible to change the PSU fan. But i wouldn't recommend it. Just replace it.

I would recommend a Seasonic or XFX power supply.

Any way to know for sure? Like maybe test voltage or something? Do you think corsair would replace the unit for free?

Replace the power supply , RMA it , get the same one it's a decent power supply.

How old is the power supply? If it is still under warranty, they should replace it. If it is under 30 days , you may be able to RMA it.

That is outside the normal time to return it. That leaves you warranty repair or replacement.

They don't have 24-hr technical support. Hard to believe in this day and age. They wanted me to leave a message, lol. I'll try back in the morning. I dont have the original upc because of a rebate so I hope they still accept an exchange. Thanks everyone.
