Power supply motherboard connections

I have a power supply with only a 20 pin motherboard connector, but my motherboard has a 24 pin. Can I just use it as is? Do I need to get a new one? It will work. But if you have a big system and a cheap PSU, it is probably not wise. But if it is a small system, then you may not have any problems.

But I would recommend getting a new PSU as cheap PSUs can damage you components and there are a lot of cheap PSUs on the market.

Seasonic has a really good sale going on now and you can get this PSU for $30 after rebate. It maybe worth a buy since the adapter alone is $8.
