Power Supply Needs Help!

Hey guys! It's been a while since I've built a full tower and I know the power needs of a lot of things have gone down, so here's the rundown of the setup I'm looking at...

The New GTX-1060 is a RIDICULOUS value for what you get! So, I have essentially based my entire build around this graphics card. Yes, I know there are better cards out there, but for a build on a budget, you really can't go wrong with the 1060 right now.

I am also looking at an Intel I5 6600K series processor, with a Gigabyte 1151 socket Motherboard with a built-in wireless/bluetooth card.

I am looking to get 8-16 gigs of DDR4 RAM for this setup (First 8, and then 16 in a few weeks).

The Case I ordered is a DIYPC Gamemax-w Full tower case. The case comes with 5 120mm fans, as well as some simply LED effects.

I will be running a 500-1000GB SSD HD for now, but may be adding an m.2 harddrive to speed up certain processes and boot time in the future. But the SSD will be the main storage drive.

The case I ordered came with a 650w Bronze rated Power supply. I have calculated the Wattage needs of this setup on a few different sites and have gotten anywhere from 300w up to 659w.

I have had a few other friends who are computer savvy tell me I should be able to just barely run this setup as long as I do not plan to overclock or add anything else before upgrading the power supply.

There are both 800w and 900w Power supplies on sale at the local computer store in my town, but as I said before, I'm on a budget, so if I can run what I have, that would be best for my wallet, but I'd rather not burn out a CPU over $50 either...

Does anyone have any advice at this point in time? I am leaning towards just waiting until I can afford a larger power supply, but I'm not really wanting to have basically wasted money on the first power supply, since the return fee is almost half the value of the entire power supply I got.

Thanks in advance for any help!

It would really help to know what PSU it will have. In general, included PSU's are not very good. Your system as proposed would only need a good quality 450 watt or larger PSU. Quality is the key here. The Corsair CX450m would be a decent budget PSU for your system.

The power supply is a APEVIA ATX-BT650W 650W ATX12V SLI CrossFire.

Here is the link to the NEWEGG site info on it.

I'll be honest, I'm also not exactly sure what SLI or Crossfire are/do. Are those desirable things? Or do they only work with a specific setup?

Thanks again for any help!

The total system power consumption while gaming will be about 200 wats.
so you will be good with decent 430-550w power supply. I wouldn't trust the PSU that come with the case. Especially since you have overclockable parts.
If you are US based, than this one would be the PSU choice http://pcpartpicker.com/product/fZyFf7/seasonic-power-supply-s12ii520bronze
It will serve you for a very long time and still have a headroom for future upgrades

That PSU is very poor and really shouldn't be used in a gaming system. SLI/Crossfire is running two graphics card together which the GTX 1060 doesn't support and is really unnecessary. It's almost always better to use a single better graphics card than two lesser cards in SLI/Crossfire. Smaller PSU required, less heat and noise and no issues with scaling.

Thanks a lot for your help guys!

Would anyone be able to tell me if a Vampire 700 would be a decent choice? It seems to be a much larger brand name than the one that came with my case. I realize it is over-sized for my needs, but they are on a pretty good sale at my local store and if I ever needed to upgrade this would give me quite a bit of room.

This is just blowing my mind... A few years ago a 700w could barely run my cheap crappy Dell, now a 520 can support a full gaming build... I'm sure you guys know more than I do about the current wattage required for this stuff, but I'm still having anxiety over how small a 520 seems. Really don't want to be underpowering stuff. But, as I said, It's been a WHILE since I've built a computer, and I really have no way to know what modern standards are for power. I should just shut up and listen to the people who know what they're talking about lol.

Thanks a lot for your help guys!!!

Well... Anyways... This power supply is not worth returning, and I doubt it's street value is worth a darn... What are the chances it would run my setup for a few days while I wait for the new one to ship? Or is it not worth the risk to try it?
