I managed to get the board working but for only 3 seconds, no idea how or what I did to make it happen. Have read the troubleshoot page and no luck.

Solution

If you only have the 3 parts, then there's nothing to boot.

At a minimum, you need a (compatible) CPU and RAM.

If you're aiming for a 2200G, you'll very likely need a BIOS update too.

I should also mention i only have the power supply and motherboard installed.

Specs (so far):
Fractal design Focus G (case)
Gigabyte AB350M-DS3H(Mobo)
EVGA 450W BT Bronze(PSU)

The paperclip test merely confirms it'll turn on - not necessarily that it can adequately run a given system.

Which CPU/RAM do you have? If you have an APU or 2nd Gen Ryzen, you'll likely need a BIOS update for the motherboard before it'll function.

1. You also need the RAM and CPU.

2. The paperclip test is mostly useless.
Like in your car, turning the key on and the dashboard lights come on. This says nothing about the engine.

I see you did not read the manual where it says not to connect a power source to the motherboard before installing components. Electricity build up in the motherboard capacitors could damage CPU and RAM.

By the way, the Gigabyte AB350M-DS3H motherboard needs a BIOS update before you install a Ryzen 3 2200G.
I have purchased it form Amazon, Newegg and Microcenter and none had a BIOS compatible with Ryzen 3 2200G even though they sell them as a bundle.
