I have a new psu: Super Flower Golden Green Pro SF-550P14XE 550W and it's making me a looot of problems.

I have it for about 2 months and after 1 month it died, than on the next morning it worked again for like 2 days after that it died again, than i sent it back, because as it is new it was still on warranty but they said that it is working perfectly, so i got it back and it worked for about 1 month and now it's not working again...

It's not the pc as it works with another psu so what can it be?
I've heard that it can be some kind of protection mode... if so how can i get it working again without waiting for 1 week for it to 'wake up'.

Thanks

The build is this:

ASRock Fatal1ty Z87 Killer
i7 4790k
Kingston ValueRAM 8GB DDR3 1600MHz
Super Flower Golden Green Pro SF-550P14XE 550W
SSD Kingston SSDNow V300 12GB
2 other hdd(one 1T and one 240GB)
Nvidia 8800GT

I'm only using it for movies and web development, not gamming at all.

Should i buy a new PSU, if so what should i go for?

It stll doesn't work when you totally take it of the power for a while?
What other psu does work in that pc?
If from another build can you try yours in that one?
If you take this one out; "Nvidia 8800GT",and try only with the igp does it work then?

I had it off for about 4 hours and still doesn't work.
I had another psu for about 2 weeks when the first time happened can't remember what it was but it was 400W so i had the gpu down to make sure that i wont have problems with it.

A friend disconected the psu from the mobo and tryied to manualy turn it on and still didn't worked.
Everything on the pc is new but the GPU, as i said i'm not in for gamming all i need from it is to work nicely with 2 monitors, if it could be the problem i'm ok to change it i just need to get it work again.

Thanks a lot for your interest.

With the igp wouldn't you need that 8800gt at all imo.You can hook up a total of three monitors to that. The motherboard has dvi/hdmi/vga,so if your monitors can be hooked up by those should you be fine.
Hdmi could be converted to dvi and the other way around with adapters if necessary.

If that psu doesn't start up anymore rma it again with that complaint, talk to the vendor,he's resposible too imo.
It wouldn't start by hotwiring it=connecting the green and a black wire in the 24pin cable with a paperclip or something like that.

Ok so it did started this morning, but I'm pretty sure that it will go off again soon :| as it did last time.
Anyway thanks a lot Vic you stoped me from buying a new psu. I'll keep you updated.

A tip i got from a very very friendly mod.,

did you take that 8800gt out and hook the monitors up to the integrated graphics?

The cpu has a graphics card build into it and by now is probably better than that old nvidia graphics card. You would use the outputs from the motherboard for that.
The 8800gt might just be at it's last legs and maybe preventing the system from booting. It's just a very old card.

Yeah i took it out and planing on not using it anymore, my problem is time 🙁 i don't have, i have 2 projects to finish by Tuesday and it just wont start 🙁, i can't get on to my friends to borrow me a psu soooo i'm screwed, i'm going to try to work with it without the gpu but if it ever happens again i'm gonna buy a new psu just to be sure, my pc is my work and not working 5 days on a week kills me :|, still that doesn't get me out of the problems that i currently am, I CAN'T make it work, i tried removing it from the pc, all of it, hot wire, i left it off for more than 12 hours it just doesn't want to start, it still makes the sound('thick') that the book that come with it said it should do when you switch it on but it's not working, and... weird even if i take the power off of it, it's still does that sound if i try to start it for about 40-50 sec even more.

So yes i'm pretty sure that you're right the problem is the gpu and i'll use the cpu's but i still don't know what to do with it, and if i send it i'm pretty sure that until it gets there(4-5 days) it will just work fine and they'll just send it back.

Thanks.

Don't know if it will do a lot for you,but try a clear cmos by moving the right jumper (read the manual) or taking the battery of the motherboard for about 15min. and place it back. The pc should be totally of the power for that= cable out of the wall socket.

Didn't, I'll wait a few days and see if I can start it again, if it does I'l keep it without the gpu, one question do you think it's because 550w it's not enough because if it's because of the gpu i might buy a new one at the beginning of the next year and i want to know if it will start happen again.

Thanks.

That one looks good, the 430/530watt should already be fine with no dedicated gpu (like the 8800gt).,
