Hello, looking for a quick response about a system I just ordered. I chose my parts. My question is will a 650 watts power supply be enough for i7 7600k, gtx 980ti ect ....I can list the rest if needed. I thought I did my research enough I then saw 2 power notes under the gtx 980ti. One says 250, so I went by that. The other says recommended 600. What do I use, I do not want to damage these items.

Thanks in advance!

Solution
not the best psu out there but enough power for the system. i would avoid any major overclocking on that psu as it may not handle it. an average oc of the cpu should be no big deal but i'd avoid trying to win any oc competitions with that one. otherwise, it'll be fine for the build.

the 250 is how much power the card will use and the 600 is how much power they suggest for the total system.

a quality 650w psu is plenty however a junk 650w psu may not provide the right power in the right place at the right time causing issues.

what psu did you go with?

I agree with Chilly. A good quality 650 should be more than enough. Still, some brands offer similar prices, so I got a 750W for only 10€ euro when i was aiming to 650, so i just went ahead, just in case you know.

Everytime I rea the "PSU" word, my brain forces me to copy paste this link since it looks to be helping a lot of people : )

I hope it works with you as well.

Thanks for quick replies : ) , I went with a 99$ cooler master bronze. (Cooler Master G650M 650W 80+ Bronze Semi Modular ATX Power Supply) The case does not com with a psu (Cooler Master CM Storm Stryker ATX Full Tower Case Black & White 9X5.25 )

HAha thanks for the link Arke, I actually found that by googling earlier. I just wanted to be sure 650 wasn't cutting it close. Lets say for some reason it isn't enough , whats happens? cpu and gpu potentially die? or just the psu unit. Any safeguards?

if it is not enough power it will simply shut down or you'll see selective brown outs of various and random parts. i doubt you will see this issue at all as 650w is more than enough power. you won't even approach 600w with an overclock.

Ya no plans to overclock here, don't even know how. If down the line , psu will go first.
