so i bought a supernova 650w g2 fully mod gold, about like a month ago, but i noticed no matter what i play it still doesnt run the fan, yes the fan does work, i tried it and i switched from eco mode on to off and it worked right away with no problems, what am asking about is, is it fine? cause like i do play heavily games, like ghost recon and killing floor 2 cause it has a lot of explosives, overwatch as well, and planning on downloading more games soon, also gta 5, so should i be switching the eco to off and leave the fan working always or is it fine? yeah i know that it needs to be 55C before the fan starts working so yeah just asking.

Thanks in advance!

Solution
Eco mode will ramp the fan up as/when necessary, with a tolerance level higher than 'normal', yet still perfectly safe.

The ambient temps in the room will play a part...... if you're in an air-conditioned room, it may take longer to ramp up (if at all).

Very few modern desktop need much more than 450W absolute max...... and similarly, very few systems actually pull the max outside of stess-test loads.

You're probably only pulling around 250W* or so in daily usage/gaming, not much more than a third of what that PSU can actually do, so it doesn't need to cool itself much.

*Depending on your exact spec, of course.

Well yeah my room is pretty cold, about my pc, i have a 1070 founders edition with i5 4460 so yeah, well thanks for the reply feels way better now, would love to mark both as a solution but it doesnt let me xD, cheers!

YEah, for a 4460 and 1070, your max theoretical draw is somewhere around 300W stressed (since you can't OC the CPU).

So in daily use, you're likely pulling no more than 200W....250W at an absolute stretch..... so there's lots of headroom in the PSU, it doesn't need to cool much at all.
