So I am using a SeaSonic M12 SS-700HM 700W, but there is one huge problem. I am able to plug the generic 24 pin and 4 pin for motherboard and cpu, but when I use the modular 5 pin cable to SATA or the modular 6 pin, I can smoke smoke and the system powers up for exactly 1 second before shutting off. There is no smoke gas, but there is definitely a smokey smell, and a heavy one. I can't quite figure out the problem and I'm afraid to open up the power supply. Again, without the modular cables, the system boots up with the 24 pin and 4 pin connected only. When I plug in a 5 pin or 6 pin modular, it will shut off after 1 second. Also, for some strange reason, when I set my computer upright (which it's normally supposed to be), the power supply sometimes only powers up for 1 second even with only the 24 pin and 4 pin connected. :fou:

So, I bought a 5 pin and 6 pin modular from CoolerMaster. Are there any differences in modular cables that may have short circuited my power supply and caused smoke from it? I have a seasonic psu but I don't know if CoolerMaster modular cables work on it.
