Opened up chrome yesterday, had a few windows opened and then everything just froze. Tried a restart and nothing... Is my power supply toast? If in fact this OS the case, can I take my current PSU which is hardwired and install a modular? I'm running an Asus M5A97 2.0 mobo.
Thanks in Advance for any pointers.

don't understand what you mean.
you just mean the cables themselves are hardwired to the power supply?

if so, once you disconnect them from the motherboard and any other components then you just pull the whole thing out.
wouldn't matter if you went modular or not on the new product.

you don't give any insight into the rest of the system though.
if this is some OEM prebuilt system then you will most likely not be able to just replace the power supply with a retail model.

Nah. Nothing proprietary, currently has a raidmax cobra 600 which I'm pretty sure just went bad. Thinking about a 750 semi modular that's compatible with an Asus M5A97 R2.0. After I posted this I did some research and it looks like I'll be OK as long as nothing else was damaged when the PSU went bad. Lemmie know if there's anything else I need to be careful about. Thanks for replying
