So my pc has been running fine for about 2 years now, i upgraded my cpu and gpu back in september 2015 to a i7 4790k and a GTX 970, i've had no problems since then. Today i woke up and turned on my pc as i do, went to get breakfast and came back to see that my computer wasnt even on, i booted it up again and went off again, this time i came back to the bios screen saying "Power supply surges detected during the previous power on. ASUS anti-surge was triggered to protect the system from unstable power unit. I've just left the pc on that screen cause im scared to reboot in case there is something wrong with my PSU and it might fry my parts. So im just wondering what i should really do at this point, i really need help cause i have no clue.

My power supply is 500w FSP 80+

Thank you for any help

Thats an indicator that your power supply crapped out. FSP is generally OK, but it can happen. I would shut it off, and then try and start it again, if its truly bad it will give you the same error, then replace the PSU.

That error doesn't come up for no reason, its going to come up again. Even if it doesn't I would not trust it. You absolutely should replace your PSU.
