Power supply to motherboard problem

Hello I finally got all my items in today to build my own pc....everything running smoothly until i went to plug in the 24 pin power supply to the motherboard!!! it is about 3-4 inches to short..what am i to do now?

You can buy extension but what PSU and case are you using?
