i'm pretty sure this is a rookie mistake but i've checked and re checked and nada

I have a new chanitech vnf 250 and a trubolink 420 powersupply. i connected everything up and pluuged in the powercable and .... nothin

not even the powersupply fan. pretty sure its just that i missed a connection but i can't find it.

I seem to have an extra cable meant for the board but it doesn't seem to have a home.

i have the large 20 pin conector in and the smaller square one but there seems to be an extra recangular connecvtor with no home.

what is the bare min i can connect and expted the psu to start up?

frustrated!

the large rectangular, plus the small square one, the other is not needed. On the board, well, cpu(+ fan), ram and video card.

check that your board is not grounded to the case.
What about the small switch at the back of the PSU, nead the plug?

But have you connect the case's power switch to the motherboard? The switch on the PS itself won't turn things on - it also requires a switch signal from the motherboard.

Look at the FAQ in this section of the board.

oh its definetly me not the hardware.

By grounded to the case do you mean simply tocuhing it?
Obviously there is conact at the back but otherwise i beleive its simply sitting on the risers.

Is it possible i've fried the board?

And yeah i did connect the power switch reset button etc. Will this effect the power supply even ramping up though?

Thanks a million for your response

Well, if there is no contact undeneath the board apart from the riser, well, I would test the PSU and if there is no go, well, maybe it is the board

if you can take the board out of the case on a non conductive surface, and have another PSU to test, as well as another video card, you could see which component is the problem

heya Casaubon;

Try resetting C-mos, the mobo could be in a protect state from the factory, resetting c-mos will take it out of this protect state and return it to normal operation state.
You didnt state wether you had the trouble shooting speaker hooked up to the mobo, if not you need to plug it in as there may be trouble codes that you currently cannot hear.

Hey casubon

If you have access to another board try the PS on that. And also if you have a Multimeter or can get access to one test out the ps you will want to put the Positive pin (normally its red) in the purple port and the Negative pin(normally its black)in any black port to ground and set your multimeter to 20 and you want to have a reading around 5 wich means your ps is fine. Sorry if this sounds confusing im not to good at grammer.
